The owners of Glencairn Saddlebreds, Inc., Ian and Ann McPhee are simply some of the nicest folks one could meet. Celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary in 2019, the McPhees are proud of their Scottish heritage while completely embracing life in Texas. Both are avid lovers of the American Saddlebred horse and Hackney pony and are tremendous supporters of the VPF Team, never missing the chance to cheer on a “barn buddy,” no matter his or her age.
Ann plays a supporting role to Ian’s horse adventures – she’s his number one cheerleader and always has a pat and a smile for the horses. The World’s Championship Horse Show has become Ann’s favorite week to celebrate her appreciation for our breeds. She’s developed a keen eye for the inner workings of a class, a top show horse, and loves the competitive spirit that is so evident at the top. Though she’s not likely to take the reins herself, she’s become a very good judge whose feedback is very much valued by all.
And then there’s Ian. Always ready with a joke to brighten your day or a smile when a person needs it, Ian represents all of those who chose horses later in life. He embraced the world of saddle seat riding and driving in his late 50s. Over the past decade, through hours of dedication at the barn & gym, he’s climbed from the academy division in both to earning fantastic placings at the highest levels of our sport in the saddle and the cart. Ian’s passion for our industry has led him to many wonderful places. He served on the board of the Texas American Saddlebred Horse Association and is instrumental in the recent success of the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show.
